Jaymie is a native Nevadan dedicated to serving the Reno area. At the age of nine years old, she announced to her family that she would be a lawyer. She kept her promise and never strayed from her goal. She graduated from the University of Nevada Reno in the Spring of 1999 with a degree in Criminal Justice and went on to graduate from McGeorge School of Law in 2002. Today, Jaymie is a proud Reno family lawyer specializing in high-asset divorce cases, temporary protective orders, paternity action, custody, and visitation. Along with being a passionate family attorney, she also enjoys researching historical documents, spending time with her son, and visiting Lake Tahoe.
While attending UNR in 1999, Jaymie obtained an internship with the Washoe County District Attorney's office in the criminal/homicide division. During her internship, Jaymie was asked to research medical periodicals at the UNR Medical Library to help prepare for a triple homicide case. A woman had been accused of murdering three of her own infant children. The woman unconvincingly claimed that Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) was the cause of her children's deaths, but research and evidence demonstrated a different story. With Jaymie's help, the District Attorney was able to convict this woman of killing her three infant children with three counts of first-degree murder. This was a turning point for Jaymie as her interest peaked in family law and how this tragedy may have been prevented by protecting these children within the family court system.
McGeorge School of Law 1999
After Jaymie graduated from UNR, Jaymie continued her path in the legal field and began law school at McGeorge School of Law in the Fall of 1999. Jaymie began studying the mechanics of family law in law school. In her final year of law school, Jaymie elected to take family law specific classes to gain as much knowledge about family law as possible. Jaymie also interned for the Honorable Judge Jordan in the Family Division of the Washoe County family Court in 2001. Jaymie graduated from law school in 2002 and began working as a law clerk at Nevada Legal Services for practicing family law for indigent clients while studying for the Nevada Bar.
Family Law 2004
After being admitted to practice law in Nevada, Jaymie continued to practice family law at Nevada Legal Services along with a variety of other areas of law. In 2004 Jaymie accepted an associate position with a Reno Nevada family law firm. Jaymie worked as an associate with the firm for three years focusing solely on family law issues.
Jaymie's Own Practice 2007
In 2007, Jaymie proudly opened her own law practice and has expanded her family law practice to also help individuals in need of estate planning as well as Elder law issues such as adult guardianship.
